Andrew T. Walker, Ph.D.

Executive Director, the Carl F. H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement

Dr. Walker is Associate Professor of Christian Ethics and Apologetics at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. An Associate Dean in the School of Theology, he is also the Executive Director of the Carl F. H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement. He is a Fellow in the Evangelical in Civics Life Program at The Ethics and Public Policy Center and serves as the Executive Editor of Eikon: A Journal for Biblical Anthropology, a publication of The Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. He is also a Contributing Editor at Public Discourse, the Journal of the Witherspoon Institute and serves as the Public Affairs Advisor to the Kentucky Baptist Convention.

A sought-after speaker and cultural commentator, Walker researches and writes about the intersection of Christian ethics, public theology, and the church’s social witness. His academic research interests include natural law theory, human dignity, family stability, church-state studies, and social conservatism. The author or editor of over ten books, he is passionate about helping Christians understand the moral demands of the gospel. His analysis has been quoted among such outlets as the New York TimesThe Los Angeles Times, and Vox. His scholarly publications include reviews and articles in the Oxford Journal of Church and State and The Southwestern Journal of Theology. He writes regularly for such outlets as National ReviewFirst Things, The Gospel Coalition, and Public Discourse. He is the author of the award-winning God and the Transgender DebateMarriage Is: How Marriage Transforms Society and Cultivates Human Flourishing, co-editor of The Gospel for Life series, and a forthcoming volume on religious liberty from Brazos Press titled Liberty for All: Defending Everyone’s Religious Freedom in a Secular Age. He is also an editor of the forthcoming volume Explorations in Baptist Political Theology. He previously served as a policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation and as a Senior Fellow in Ethics at the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, where he remains a Fellow in the ERLC’s Research Institute. He is currently at work on an edited volume with Zondervan Academic on perspectives on the natural law, a natural law evangelical ethics volume, and an edited volume on Protestant appropriations of legal philosopher Robert P. George’s work.

He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Southwest Baptist University. He received his Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Ethics from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. An avid long-distance runner, Andrew resides in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife and three daughters. He is an active member of a local Baptist church.

Cory D. Higdon

Managing Director, The Carl F.H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement

Cory Higdon is the Director of Theological Research in the Office of the President at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. student in Church History. His area of research focuses on Roger Williams and the ideological origins and development of religious freedom. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member of Church History at Boyce College in Louisville, Ky.

Cory’s scholarship has appeared in numerous outlets. He has published peer reviewed work at The Journal of Church and State and Puritan Reformed Journal. He has authored numerous book reviews for Fides et Historia and the Southern Baptist Journal of Theology. His research has appeared at The American Society of Church History, the Evangelical Theological Society, the Southern Conference on British Studies, and the European History Section of the Southern Historical Association. He was also invited to participate in colloquiums on religious freedom for the Acton Institute and the First Liberty Institute. Cory is currently a contributor to the forthcoming volume, Explorations in Baptist Political Theology, as well as a contributor to a forthcoming special edition of the academic journal Religions, which will focus on religious nationalism.

He is the author of several articles at Public Discourse and Providence Magazine, which cover a range of issues from religious freedom, civility, and present trends in the study of history.

He has a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of Memphis and a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Amelia and has three children: Mabry, Liesl, and Carson.
